|“||The minute you kids start following Frank's example is the minute I put a gun in my mouth.||”|
Fiona Gallagher is in the difficult position of being the oldest of the Gallagher children, so most of the responsibility and child-rearing falls on her young shoulders. This young woman takes it all in stride -- she's clearly been doing it for a long time. Fiona is headstrong and sure of herself in most situations, but she has a wild streak and is often her own worst enemy.
Season 1 Edit
Fiona is the eldest Gallagher sibling. Because of her mother's absence and Frank's neglect, Fiona accepted the responsibility of caring for her siblings by the age of 9 and dropped out of high school in her junior year. In the beginning of the series Fiona works multiple minimum-wage and temporary jobs to support her siblings. Though often stressed and exhausted by her responsibilities, she dutifully and consistently does what she needs to do in order to preserve her family.
Season 2 Edit
At the close of season 2, Fiona receives her GED and begins to take more interest in jobs.
Season 3 Edit
After Frank calls social services out of sheer spite, Fiona wins a court case (and with the admiration of the judge) is appointed her siblings' legal guardian. This strains her relationship with Jimmy.
Towards the end of season 3, Fiona finally gets a more rewarding job with a cup manufacturing company.
Season 4 Edit
Fiona begins dating her boss Mike but then has sex with Mike's addict brother Robbie. When Mike finds out he breaks up with her. In the aftermath of the breakup, Liam ingests cocaine that Fiona got from Robbie (a birthday gift; she kept the coke but made Robbie leave) at her birthday party and is hospitalized. Fiona is arrested for child neglect and drug possession. Mike posts her bail and she is put under house arrest with a curfew. When Fiona breaks her probation while partying with Robbie, she is incarcerated. She is released shortly afterwards though, due to overcrowding in the prison and gets a job at a diner.
Season 5 Edit
In episode 4, Fiona impulsively marries Gus Pfender, the bassist of an indie rock band. She then cheats on Gus with Jimmy when he appears in town once again. Afterwards she begins a relationship with her boss Sean. Her extramarital affair with Jimmy, along with her budding relationship with her boss, Sean, results in her marriage ending.
Season 6 Edit
By the end of season 6, Fiona and Sean plan to be married, but Frank ruins the nuptials by revealing Sean's relapse to Fiona at the altar, causing Sean to leave her.
Season 7 Edit
After being left at the alter by Sean, Fiona (now rocking a new "Warrior" tattoo and blue hair streak) adopts a new, relaxed attitude and starts running Patsy's Pies on her own terms. She is happy being single, but then starts hooking up and having sex with random guys on Tinder to "save energy" on other things. Fiona sees an opportunity in a laundromat for sale and decides to invest. She soon begins to struggle with owning both Patsy's Pies and the laundromat and takes an offer from Margo to buy the laundromat. After dealing with Monica's death at the end of the season she buys an apartment building from a hookup and becomes a landlord.
Season 8 Edit
Season 9 Edit
Fiona starts drinking way to much because of the fact that her life is falling apart. Fiona gets fired from Patsy's Pies. When Fiona messes up Lip's chance of keeping Xan he tells her to leave the house. When Lip hauled her belongings out of the house and on to the street she has a fight with Lip and storms off to the Albi. At the Albi she asks V if she can stay at her place but after deliberating V says no. After her life went to shit she returns back to her old apartment building and realizes that she has to do something. After realizing she starts going to AA meeting and starts to get her life back together. When she gets her new job at the gas station she ends up seeing her business partner Maxwell. Maxwell offers to buy her out which then she quits her job. After she quit her job she goes and visits Ian in prison where she tells him that she needs to move on. When Ian tells her that she should she packs her stuff and moves out of the house, which ends Season 9.
